The green armored dwarf known as Orn Steelhide was first made available in the Mythic Legions 1.0 Kickstarter release. Surprisingly, Orn was one of the least popular figures, from a Kickstarter order standpoint, in that initial wave.
Opinions on Orn changed once people got him in hand and saw how striking his unique green armor was. Also, Orn came with a bit of a surprise – a second head that had not been previously shown! During the Kickstarter, Orn was pictured with the “full dwarf helmet” head, but the final figure came with that head PLUS the “bearded helmet” head with his beard painted black. Fans who had passed on Orn quickly began trying to add him to their collections, but since he had been ordered in smaller numbers than many of the other figures, he became very hard to find on the secondary market.
Orn’s popularity climbed even higher when the “Mythic Legions Art Book” shipped and the included comic revealed Orn to be a key member of Xylona’s Flock, accompanying Artemyss Silverchord as one of her companions. Interestingly, the comic showed an unhelmeted Orn, and he did not have a long black beard like the figure had come with, meaning that extra head really was an additional pack in that was just to add more value to this figure!
Thankfully, the availability of Orn increased when he was named to the first Mythic Legions All Stars wave. This rerelease of the figure allowed many fans who has initially passed on him to finally add him to their dwarven legions.
On this page you will find some great shots of Orn Steelhide shot by Johnny Wu, along with some of the initial artwork the studio did for this character, the way he looked in his comic book appearance, and even the artwork that appeared on the trading card of Orn that was also a part of the first Kickstarter campaign.
